It was a rainy and not a happy day in Houston on April 18th. It rained too much which caused flooding. Our Clear Channel office was closed, and I decided to use the time I had to spent inside the house doing something I would have otherwise not be doing. I wanted to share a few pictures my creative endeavor on that rainy day.
I had been thinking about this botanical experiment for a while. When I travel, I typically collect shells and little stones as a memory for a place. But I also collect blooms and leaves of flowers and plants that catch my eye. I place them in my book, planner, or journal (which I always carry .. at least one of them for sure). What happens is that they get pressed and nicely shaped. When I'm lucky, fantastic details of the leaves and blooms get emphasized by this pressing method of preserving the beauty of nature. ♥
I decided to create a wall picture from some of the pressed nature's creations that I had collected. It's pretty easy, and what you need are some nice background paper, a frame (I bought mine at Ikea), glue, and a dose of creative energy :) You can also implement some water color drawing in the picture. It's all up to you what texture and layers you will give to your painting. It's your empty canvas ready for your to express yourself.
There is so much that can be done with pressed rose petals, blooms, leaves, etc. We can truly let our imagination and creativity go to the unknown and experiment. These nature's beauties are a great way to complement a drawing, painting, doodling :) .. and what a way to relax, meditate, and unwind - through creating ✿
